Coaching

Coaching is built on a relationship of trust.

Coaching is an intensive, personal collaboration between two or more people. This is why we need not only trust and respect, but also a good fit in terms of personalities between you and me as the coach. In a free introductory session we will get to know each other, talk about your situation and see if we can work together for part of your journey. If we feel it is a good fit, I will commit to serving you to the best of my abilities to ensure that you find your sense of wonder. You take action and your goals will then come to fruition.

The coaching process

During the coaching sessions, we will examine your current situation. I want to wholeheartedly encourage you to rediscover your sense of wonder, which is often suppressed in rational thinking. Taking account of the complex picture of your own personality, actions, relationships and external factors, we will then look at the following questions, always with a view to turning answers into actions, so you can achieve the desired outcome:

  • What are the pertinent factors in your current situation?
  • What are your personal values, and how do they direct your needs?
  • Where do your strengths lie, and how can you increase them?
  • How do you identify your personality, and what do you value about your own character?
  • What are your current or potential stumbling blocks?
  • How can you overcome barriers or turn them into something positive?
  • How can you use newly acquired skills and reinforce them to find alternative behaviours?

Ethical principles – focusing on people as individuals

My coaching programmes are based on mutual trust and appreciation. Without these key aspects, intensive and productive collaboration would be impossible. There must also be a shared understanding between you and me as your coach. As a member of the International Coach Federation, the world’s largest association for coaches, I am bound by these ethical principles and code of conduct. (Excerpt)

As a coach, I will:

Have a clear coaching service agreement with my clients and sponsor(s) before beginning the coaching relationship and honour this agreement.

Carefully explain and strive to ensure that, prior to or at the initial meeting, my coaching client and sponsor(s) understand the nature of coaching, the nature and limits of confidentiality, financial arrangements and any other terms of the coaching agreement.

Maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality for all client information unless release is authorised by the client or required by law.

Maintain, store and dispose of any records, including electronic files and communications, created during my coaching engagements in a manner that promotes confidentiality, security and privacy and complies with any applicable laws and agreements.

Avoid making statements that could lead to misuse of my influence; I will respect the coaching profession and how it can affect others’ lives.

Respect diverse coaching methods and approaches. Recognise and honour the efforts and contributions of others and only claim ownership of my own material.

Coaching without a method‘?

As a coach and coach mentor, I am always asked “What methods do you use?” In my experience, the very question falls short. After all, a method tells us little about the type, quality, efficiency, suitability or success of coaching. The art of coaching is to use the appropriate intervention for the client that takes us right to the heart of the solution, and no two coaching clients are alike. Learning and understanding, determining the right steps, reaching one’s goals – all clients do this in their own unique way.

Scholarship

I award one scholarship to a regular coaching client for people who are unable to afford the full price in their current life situation.

The scholarship discount will be negotiated individually and will be based on a sliding scale.

To qualify for the scholarship, the client must cooperate actively and show genuine motivation for change. We will discuss both of these aspects in an introductory meeting. Please contact me if interested.
